Key Takeaway: This was a capsule brand extension project. I was asked to design a Private Label collection capsule group of 6-8 pieces using a print design of my choosing, that reflects the theme or vibe of the retailer.
Objective: Think of a product category that interests you that relies on prints as a way to add novelty to their products. Add a motif or theme. Search trend reports, Look in art museums and art books or any where you are inspired, but be careful about intellectual property rights and cultural appropriation issues. Create your own artwork. Create a print design. Understand concepts and methods by which retailers and wholesalers create special, store-branded merchandise for targeted customer segments. Students will apply strategic planning in the product development process.
